Open Cycle Launch

November 8, 2012
Toronto, Canada

La Bicicletta is proud to present the launch of Open Cycle mountain bikes on Tuesday, December 4th, from 6-8pm. Open Cycle presents ground-breaking ideas to the world of 29er mountain bikes, brought to you by Gerard Vroomen, co-founder of Cervelo, and Andy Kessler, former CEO of BMC. With Gerard's road bike engineering background, Open's design approach is truly start-from-scratch, not bound by preconceived notions of what a 29er hardtail should be like. The result is the O-1.0, which Gerard will introduce in person on December 4th, and will answer all your questions. Participants will also have the chance (weather permitting) to go for a ride with Gerard the following morning.

Gerard's work at Cervelo, together with Phil White, caused a minor revolution in road and triathlon bikes, and Open's first entry into mountain bikes is quickly generating a similar buzz. Only this time the innovator's approach is reflected in the bike, as well as the internal workings of the company. The bike features fully-internal cable routing (ready for mechanical, hydraulic and electronic shifting), wire-thin seatstays for extra comfort, and the torsion-resistant front triangle. Even the company itself is transparent, directly communicating with its community (what other company has the owners' emails published on their site?), and regularly meeting with its retailers and customers. La Bicicletta has been chosen as one of only fifty Open retailers worldwide.
